If I could choose my very last dessert in the world to eat, I think it may just be this. The buttery layers of pastry become silken and the rich caramel custard melts in your mouth. Paired with a good dollop of double cream (I mean, if we’re going all in, why not) and you’ve got yourself a little bowl of heaven.
The original recipe is by one of my all-time favourite chef obsessions – Nigella Lawson – but I’ve been making this for so many years (long before we were even married!) that I’ve tweaked it here and there to give me the desired quantity and just the right balance.
