Netflix – our top 10 series picks of what we’ve been watching!

Netflix has revolutionised our tv/series watching at home. With our arrival of uncapped fibre, finally came our subscription to Netflix. Best. Thing. Ever! Our favourite way to unwind, on the nights we don’t need to work (and when the kids are down), is to watch series and chill – such homebodies!

The pro’s? No more adverts. Depending how late you are to the party, you can binge watch season after season. Netflix Originals (a couple of which are on our ‘must watch’ list below).

Here’s our top 10 series picks for what we’ve been watching if you’re looking for some series to watch:

Ozark (Netflix Original): A financial adviser drags his family from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks, where he must launder $500 million in five years to appease a drug boss. We’ve watched the two seasons loaded on Netflix and we’re absolutely drawn in to the never-ending drama!

Starring: Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Sofia Hublitz

Dynasty (Netflix Original): The Carringtons and the Colbys feud for control over their fortune – and their children – in this updated reboot of the classic prime-time soap. This reminds me so much of Dirty Sexy Money which was on TV years ago and we can’t get enough of it, the second season is currently airing.

Starring: Elizabeth Gillies, Nathalie Kelley, Grant Show

Designated Survivor (Netflix Original): America’s fate rests in the hands of a low-level official after an attack on Washington decimates the government in this gripping political thriller. If you’re a Madam Secretary fan, or a Kiefer fan for that matter, this series will have you on the edge of your seat! We absolutely loved binge-watching this!

Starring: Kiefer Sutherland, Natascha McElhone, Maggie Q

Manhunt: Unabomber (Netflix Original) Faced with few clues and an increasingly panicked public, the FBI calls on a new kind of profiler to help track down the infamous Unabomber. We love anything involving the FBI, and as you might have picked up, there’s a trend of Crime Drama’s that we tend to gravitate to.

Starring: Sam Worthington, Paul Bettany, Chris Noth

13 Reasons Why (Netflix Original): Why did Hannah Baker take her own life? Her classmates all have secrets … and the truth is about to come out. One the most talked about series of late – a hauntingly accurate depiction of suicide and the cruelness of high school students. In the second season there was very often times I didn’t know whether to sob or vomit – such important topics are raised throughout this series, but be warned, this series contains many trigger warnings. We couldn’t stop watching this and often watched until way past any reasonable hour.

Starring: Dylan Minnette, Katherine Langford, Kate Walsh

Friends from College (Netflix Original): Twenty years after graduation, a tight-knit group of college friends reconnects and discovers that love hasn’t gotten easier with age. Drama, nostalgia, comedy and deceit – this series has it all. And, Fred Savage who I haven’t seen since The Wonder Years!

Starring: Keegan-Michael Key, Cobie Smulders, Billy Eichner

River (Netflix Original): John River is a brilliant detective whose fractured mind traps him between the living and the dead. Once again, another cop/detective series, but it delves into loss and grief and how this Nordic highly acclaimed actor uncovers the secrets that have killed his partner.

Starring: Stellan Skarsgård, Nicola Walker, Adeel Akhtar

Marcella (Netflix Original): Despite marriage woes, a tragic loss, memory blackouts and her struggles as a mom, a London detective excels at what she does best: catching killers. Marcella, an absolute train wreck of a detective, attracts drama wherever she goes. This complex series circles divorce, drama and murder, and Marcella’s violent streak had us both captivated, and clambering for answers from the first 5 minutes of the first season.

Starring: Anna Friel, Nicholas Pinnock, Ray

The People vs OJ Simpson: American Crime Story: This dramatization traces the twists and turns of O.J Simpson’s murder trial, examining the behind-the-scenes of both sides of the court. Possibly one of the most infamous trials in history portrayed by some of Hollywood’s biggest actors, this story still fascinates me, and how the jury got to their verdict.

Starring: Cuba Gooding Jr., Sarah Paulson, John Travolta

Chesapeake Shores: When she returns to the small Maryland hometown her father founded, a successful career woman and single mom considers staying and setting down roots. A change from our usual crime choices, this series is reminiscent of a mixture between Brothers and Sisters and Dallas for me. If you want to watch something not to heavy, follow the O’Brien family as they reconnect. Also, the two lead characters aren’t too bad to look at.

Starring: Meghan Ory, Jesse Metcalfe, Diane Ladd
