The best kid-friendly brekkie spots in Joburg

Far more than a lunch spot, breakfast spots are always top of mind for me as a mom. Unfortunately for me, my kids do not sleep in, so they’re up and about, dressed and antsy to get out already, often by 08:00. The rest of the kid-less world is usually still asleep at this time so there’s often less of a crowd, which means less of a wait if we have to be in and out, when the little ones are having a moment.

In no particular order, here are 28 restaurants in the Johannesburg area that are open for breakfast, you’ll see I tried to move away from the usual Papachinos and Spur restaurants, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with them, they’re just so overdone!

  1. Some great suggestions! Thank you. Please could you share some early evening family restaurant suggestions in the area. We are stuck between Luca’s and Higher Ground which are both lovely but it would be nice to have a few more to try! Love your blog 🙂

  2. Kids unleashed in Albert on is a fantastic place for kids to play. Food is of a high standard and friendly staff. Open 9 until 5 Tuesday to Sunday.

  3. Hello ,

I saw your tweet about animals and thought I will check your website. I like it!

I love pets. I have two beautiful thai cats called Tammy(female) and Yommo(male). Yommo is 1 year older than Tommy. He acts like a bigger brother for her. 🙂
I have even created an Instagram account for them ( https://www.instagram.com/tayo_home/ ) and probably soon they will have more followers than me (kinda funny).

I have subscribed to your newsletter. 🙂

Keep up the good work on your blog.

    Regards
