December Holiday Read Roundup!

Looking for a book for a lil holiday reading? I can highly recommend these 6 books! Yes, they all scored highly – I wouldn’t recommend subpar books for your holiday reads!

// Christmas Shopaholic – Sophie Kinsella // Becky Brandon needs no introduction – the Shopaholic is back! Becky can’t say no to hosting Christmas – or online shopping (I mean, if you spend enough you get free delivery, score!). Chaos is bound to ensue with Becky – the battle of the vegan turkey, an ex-boyfriend with an agenda, the perfect Christmas gift for Luke and getting stuck inside a pet shop on Christmas Eve. This book made me snort with laughter (very dignified, I know) but it is the perfect book to get you in the Christmas spirit! 10/10

// Love Your Life – Sophie Kinsella // Ava gives up on dating apps and adventures to Italy where she finds love on a writer’s retreat. Fantasy can’t last forever and soon real life back in London (Ava’s untrained shirt-shredding dog, Harold, a nude sauna situation, annoying habits and an obsessive ex-girlfriend). Hilarious, humorous and endearing – another cracker of a book from one of my favourite chick lit authors! 09/10

// Under Pressure – Robert Pobi // After a series of deadly explosions rock the city of New York and with too many victims and no known motive, the F.B.I. turns once again to Dr. Lucas Page. Dr. Lucas Page, astrophysicist, university professor, and former FBI agent, has an extraordinary gift for visualizing a crime scene as if he was a bystander and can break down any set of data at a glance. Dr Page wants nothing to do with the FBI, but with his city under attack and his family at risk once again, he steps in to find a killer in a haystack before they strike again. If you like CSI vibes, this is right down your alley. I couldn’t put it down! Although this is the second book in a series it holds its weight as a standalone, this is a must read! 09/10

// The Silent Wife – Karen Slaughter // He watches. He waits. He takes. A case is reopened after a prison riot when new evidence appears and a violent sexual predator begins to hunt his next victim.  A predator is stalking the women of Grant County. A chilling thriller read that will undoubtedly get under your skin – it’s not for the feint hearted with some rather graphic descriptions of the violent attacks and examinations. It’s a commitment, but so worthy. 08/10

// Safe – S.K. Barnett // Jenny Kristal was six years old when she was snatched off the sidewalk from her quiet neighbourhood on the way to a playdate. It’s now twelve years later and she’s back home after escaping her kidnappers—but as her parents and older brother welcome her back, the questions begin to mount, for all of them. Her brother Ben doesn’t trust her. Her best friend Toni doesn’t remember their playdates. Where has she been all these years? Why is she back now? And is home really the safest place for her, or for any of them? Just when you think you know where the story is going, you’re swung in a new direction. 08/10

// Coast-to-Coast Murders – James Patterson // A detective and FBI agent join forces on a manhunt for a cold-blooded serial killer in this intense, page turning psychological thriller. From coastal California to upstate New York, a killer is plotting a devastating path of destruction. Michael and Megan Fitzgerald are siblings who share a troubling past. Both adopted, and now grown – Michael is a long-haul truck driver, Megan a college student majoring in psychology – they trust each other before anyone else. They’ve had to. This has to be my favourite James Patterson in the longest time. Gripping right from the very start, you absolutely have to read this! 10/10

So, which would you pick for your holiday read?
